About the Author
Reuben Archer Torrey traveled all over the world leading evangelistic tours, preaching to the unsaved. It is believed that more than one hundred thousand were saved under his preaching. Torrey married Clara Smith in 1879, with whom he had five children. In 1908, he helped start the Montrose Bible Conference in Pennsylvania, which continues today. He became dean of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (now Biola University) in 1912, and was the pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles from 1915 to 1924. Torrey continued speaking all over the world and holding Bible conferences. He died in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 26, 1928.

This is a phenomenal book by a great preacher of the past R. A. Torrey. He wrote it for new Christians to help them grow in their walk with Christ, but also for Christians who are not progressing in their walk with Christ. It’s two fold purpose is great to give to those new Christians and those seasoned saints not growing. In our church street evangelism ministry I personally give these out to new Christians or seasoned Christians who are not growing in Christ. Besides giving these out, it is also a great book to disciple new Christians one on one or done through a local church.
In the book he talks about just everything a growing Christian will need such as church membership, baptism with the Holy Ghost, evangelism, studying the Bible, assurance of salvation, prayer, etc. I’m very thankful that Aneko Press has put this book in their evangelism resources at a very low cost. As an evangelist myself, I have searched on the Internet for low budget friendly discipleship books to give to new Christians or seasoned saints, but some of the ones I’ve seen were way out of my budget and not affordable when purchased in large quantities. This book along with a few others have allowed me to purchase in large quantities and still stay within my budget. This book will be great for your local church evangelism outreaches or personal outreaches.
