This book has been written with a deep impression that the place and power of prayer in the Christian life is too little understood. I feel sure that as long as we look on prayer solely as the means of maintaining our own Christian life, we shall not know fully what it is meant to be. But when we learn to regard it as the highest part of the work entrusted to us, the root and strength of all other work, we shall see that we need nothing more than to study and practice the art of praying.
If I have succeeded in pointing out the progressive teaching of our Lord in regard to prayer, and the distinct reference of His wonderful promises of His last night to the works we are to do in His name – to the greater works and the bearing of much fruit – we shall all admit that only when the church gives herself up to this holy work of intercession can she expect the power of Christ to manifest itself on her behalf. I pray that God will use this book to explain to some of His children the wonderful place of power and influence that He is waiting for them to occupy and that a weary world is waiting for too.

Recently, I received a copy of Andrew Murray’s With Christ in the School of Prayer, a 31 Day Study. I was excited to receive the book as Andrew Murray has always been one of my favorite authors.
As I began reading the book, I was reminded why Mr. Murray has always been one of my favorites. He has a way of helping one understand the gospel so clearly. His use of practical application in daily life is so encouraging.
I really appreciated the use of Scripture verses in every lesson and the prayers he included at the end of each study.
Andrew Murray is extremely knowledgeable and has a great grasp on how to dig into a verse and get right to the heart of it. I love how he speaks to the reader as if they were a dear friend and that’s exactly how he presents each lesson in this 31 day study.
This book would be a blessing to all who read it. I highly recommend it and know it will be a book that is used over and over again.
I’d like to thank Aneko Press for giving me the opportunity to review this book. It was an honor and a privilege.
With Christ in the School of Prayer is a 31 day study for the Christian written by Andrew Murray. Each of the 31 lessons included in this book closes with a written prayer based on the lesson for the day. Some entries have additional notes written by contemporaries of Murray to supplement the lessons.
A few of George Muller’s prayer journal entries along with Murray’s assessment of Muller’s life and prayer life appear after the 31 lessons. A short biography of Andrew Murray finishes this print edition.
The lessons in this edition supplemented a Bible study my Pastor is currently doing on prayer using Isaac Watt’s Book of Common Prayer. On nights I couldn’t be at the service, I was most pleased to be reading and praying with the lessons in this book. My Scripture knowledge and prayer life has been deepened.
