“If you sense God has called you to take the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to another culture, I highly recommend you purchase and read Danny Lamastra’s Pursuing the Call. He draws from his experience as a missionary to El Salvador to provide easy to understand and essential to follow principles to get to the mission field, overcome common challenges, and stay healthy for a lifetime of effective service.”
Alan Ehler
Dean, Southeastern University’s Barnett College of Ministry and Theology
“Unfair! That’s what I felt after reading Danny’s book. It was unfair that I did not have such a book when my wife and I embarked on our missionary journey. We would have avoided many mistakes, been much more prepared, or learned things much quicker. This book will be a blessing to countless numbers, and help smooth their transition to wherever the Lord may be leading them.”

If you are heading towards missions or even thinking about it, do not bypass this book. You may look at Danny’s picture or notice how young he is and think that the book is not worth your time. You would be wrong.
I was amazed. Even though Danny is young, he has clearly done his research and, along with the experiences he has already had on and off the field, he provides great insights for new and prospective missionaries. And he covers it all—from the call to choosing a mission organization to raising financial partners to surviving culture shock and more—and he does it well.
My wife and I were on the foreign field for 23 and have since been training missionaries for 14 more years. I was impressed with the maturity, wisdom, and thoroughness Danny demonstrate in his book. This is a book that mission organizations should require for their new missionaries.
